September 8th: More evacuees given greenlight to re-enter on Tuesday, September 9th; others remain under evacuation order.

The re-entry area includes 22 addresses, 19 of them residential:

  • 484 to 1073 Morse Rd.
  • 4272 and 4291 Thorne Rd.
  • 49, 77 and 321 Neaves Rd.

Residents are to arrive at the 1073 Morse Rd. checkpoint between 9 and 11 a.m. with a valid piece of identification proving their civic address for re-entry.

“Each step toward re-entry brings relief not only to our residents, but also to the County as a whole. We are deeply grateful to the firefighters, aerial crews, volunteers, and countless others working tirelessly to make this possible,” said Warden Diane LeBlanc. “This progress is encouraging, but we must remember it does not mean the danger has passed. The wildfire remains active, and we ask everyone to stay prepared should conditions change.”

Provincial press release: More Evacuees of Long Lake Wildfires Can Return Home; Fire Status Changed to Held

To our West Dalhousie wildfire evacuees who returned home on September 3rd:

Water testing kits and cleaning kits will soon be available at a convenient location near you. These kits are being provided as a precautionary measure—the fire did not reach your area, but we want to ensure your peace of mind and safety.

We kindly ask everyone to be mindful that Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital is focused on patient care and remains very busy at this time. The County will be providing the kits, and details about when and where to pick them up will be shared soon.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to make these resources available quickly and efficiently.
