Bear River Comfort Centre a Welcome Addition to the Community
The County of Annapolis was pleased to announce the successful completion and operation of the new Bear River Comfort Centre, a fully accessible facility that has been warmly received by residents and visitors alike.
Community members and special guests gathered at a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 13th to mark the occasion.
With a total project value of approximately $300,000, the initiative was made possible through funding from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) - Innovative Communities Fund (ICF) in the amount of $258,505, with the remainder contributed by the Municipality.
“This project is a great example of what can be achieved when we work together,” said Warden Diane Le Blanc. “The Bear River Comfort Centre not only enhances our local tourism infrastructure but also supports community pride and economic development. It’s a beautiful addition to Bear River, and a symbol of our commitment to building stronger partnerships and stronger communities.”
“This project is a great example of how federal investments help strengthen our rural communities and make a real difference in supporting local tourism,” said Chris d’Entremont Acadie-Annapolis MP.
The new comfort centre features two accessible washrooms, an outdoor shower and wash-down area, an outdoor sink, and a covered patio and picnic area. Since opening this summer, the facility has received positive feedback for its accessibility, cleanliness, and convenience for visitors exploring Bear River and its surrounding attractions.
The comfort centre was developed to support tourism growth and local business development by encouraging more visitors to stop and enjoy Bear River’s shops, galleries, restaurants, and scenic charm, with picturesque view of the river.
This partnership between the Municipality and ACOA demonstrates continued support in strengthening rural communities and fostering innovation across Annapolis County.
