Evacuee Shelter Transition to Standby Status - September 4th

The shelter located at NSCC Annapolis Valley Campus (295 Commercial St., Middleton) will transition to standby status effective Thursday, September 4 at 8:00 a.m.

This decision follows the partial re-entry of evacuees announced Tuesday, September 2, and reflects the decreasing immediate demand for overnight accommodations.

The shelter will remain on standby and will be reinstated, if needed. All evacuees currently using this shelter are from the re-entry group and will be supported through this transition.

The Bridgetown Fire Hall Comfort Centre (10 a.m.–4 p.m. daily) remains open to provide information and support, and the Salvation Army in Bridgetown continues to collect and distribute donations for those affected.

While this is a positive step forward, residents are reminded that the wildfire remains active, out of control, and unpredictable. Please remain prepared for potential changes, ensure emergency kits are ready, and stay informed through official channels.
