West Dalhousie Wildfire Prompts County of Annapolis to Declare State of Local Emergency
The Municipality of the County of Annapolis has declared a State of Local Emergency due to the ongoing West Dalhousie wildfires, which remain out of control.
“This has become a long-standing incident, and our primary concern remains the wellbeing and safety of our residents,” said Warden Diane LeBlanc. “Declaring a state of local emergency allows us to take the necessary steps to protect property and the health, safety, and welfare of the inhabitants of the affected area.”
A municipal state of local emergency is in effect for a period of seven (7) days unless renewed or terminated sooner. During this time, residents are expected to follow all official instructions and directives from emergency officials. The declaration also prohibits the inflation of prices for essential goods and services, ensuring residents have fair access to what they need during this crisis.
The Municipality continues to work closely with provincial partners, fire services, Emergency Management Office, and community organizations to coordinate response efforts.
Residents are urged to monitor official updates from Annapolis Regional Emergency Management Organization (REMO) and other official government sources.
