Bylaw Enforcement Officer
(Permanent Fulltime Position)
Salary Range Annually $59,856.00 - $75,336.00

 

The Municipality of the County of Annapolis is currently seeking a Bylaw Enforcement Officer. This employee is a member of the Protective Services team and will work in collaboration with the Bylaw Enforcement / Animal Control Officer and under the direction of the Manager of Protective Services. A broad range of duties are carried out by this position including:

  • investigative and enforcement functions relating to Municipal bylaws (A1 Dog Bylaw, A2 Livestock At Large Bylaw, A4 Cat Bylaw, S1 Waste Management Bylaw, S5 Noise Bylaw & S6 Commercial Activity on Municipal Property Bylaw)
  • assistance to the Administrator under Dangerous and Unsightly Premises Policy to gather information and investigate complaints
  • care and maintenance of animals in the Pound and monitoring Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program


Qualifications
:

Candidates for this position must possess as a minimum, a college diploma or certificate in law or law enforcement, corrections, security, social work, or a similar educational program, or a combination of these educational requirements and lived experiences that meet requirements. Five years’ experience working in a policing, bylaw enforcement, corrections or security type organization with preference to those whose experience is directly or indirectly working with municipal government. Experience working with animals of all temperaments, strong interpersonal communication/computer skills and valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License. Applicant must have good standing in the community as a law abiding and responsible citizen, and without conviction. Regulatory background checks will be required at time of interview.
