Bear River Water Main Project

Project Summary:

The Municipality of the County of Annapolis is upgrading existing water-mains and plans to construct a new well and water treatment facility in Bear River, Nova Scotia. One additional community well. The project consists of approximately 1,100 m of 100 mm diameter water distribution piping that will replace existing watermains along existing roads, an additional water storage tank, a new water treatment building, construction of a new visitor activity centre and the reinstatement of roads and all features affected during construction. 


Update of the Bear River Water Projects for the week of February 8th, 2025

• Phase 1: Completed by Meisner Excavation and Gillespie Horticulture Services.

• Phase 2: 98% complete. Water main installation is complete and testing is underway. The temporary water system is operational on Pleasant Street. Paving has been completed on Lansdowne Rd. Work expected to be completed late-February. Work is contracted to Renovamen Contracting LTD.

• Phase 3: Watermain installation complete on Clementsvale Rd. The bridge work is scheduled to be completed early-March 2025. Work is contracted to Meisner Excavation and Gillespie Horticulture Services.

• Phase 4: Connection of the wellfields is underway as water main and control building are under construction. Work expected to be completed mid-March 2025. Work is contracted to Meisner Excavation and Gillespie Horticulture Services.


• Bear River Visitor Activity Center is under construction contracted to Community Lumber. Expected completion is late March 2025.
