On behalf of Council, I am providing a background summary and update on the sale of the former Bridgetown Regional Elementary School and associated properties.

In the early part of 2022, the properties were placed on the market and an offer was accepted. At this time, the County did a rezoning of the properties to have the lands placed in a Residential Multiple (R2) Zone. However, during the required survey of property located at 7 Park St., a trust from 1887 was discovered. The Municipality made an application to the Supreme Court to terminate the trust, allowing the property to be used unencumbered by the future owner. A court hearing was held on September 22, 2023, and a decision by the Court was rendered in favour of terminating the park trust.

The properties were sold on November 15, 2023.
