The Municipality of the County of Annapolis has received preliminary reports of structural damage in the area affected by the West Dalhousie wildfire. At this time, details remain limited as the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) has not yet been able to fully access the site to assess the situation.

“This is news none of us wanted to hear,” said Warden Diane LeBlanc. “Our hearts are broken for those who have been impacted, and we want our residents to know we are here for them. The safety and well-being of evacuees remain our first priority as we continue to support DNR in managing this wildfire.”

Residents are asked to remain patient as emergency teams work to gain safe access and gather accurate information. Official updates will be shared as soon as verified details become available.

The Municipality encourages residents to continue using the Alertable app and visiting AnnapolisREMO.ca, Annapolis County and official Nova Scotia government websites and socials to stay informed; as well as, the West Dalhousie Wildfire Public Information: 1-833-806-1515

Support services remain in place for evacuees and affected residents.

“Our community is strong, and we will face this together,” added LeBlanc.

The Municipality of the County of Annapolis has renewed the State of Local Emergency for a second time to support management of the ongoing West Dalhousie wildfires, which continue to burn out of control.

A State of Local Emergency remains in effect for a period of seven (7) days unless renewed or terminated sooner. During this time, residents are required to follow all official instructions from emergency officials.

The Municipality continues to work closely with provincial partners, fire services, the Emergency Management Office, and local community organizations to coordinate response and support efforts.

Please be advised, the County of Annapolis has expanded the mandatory Evacuation Order for West Dalhousie wildfires.

The expanded evacuation includes:

• Civic # 571- 1073 Morse Rd.
• Civic #s 4272 and 4291 Thorne Rd.

All evacuees are directed to go to the Bridgetown Fire Hall (31 Bay Rd.) to register at the Reception Centre.

Instructions for evacuation:

• Take your 72-hour kit and critical items (meds, wallet, keys).
• Avoid the area if not affected.
• Call 1-833-806-1515 for info.
• Do not call 911 for updates.
• Stay tuned to local news and follow directions of local authorities.
• Alert in effect until further notice.

Be advised, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is the official source of information on wildfires – the size, status and resources being used to fight them. Their messages will be shared on other official government channels, including County of Annapolis socials.
