Sanitary Sewerage Works Standards Manual
PURPOSE:
The purpose of Municipality of the County of Annapolis Sanitary Sewerage Works Standards Manual is to define Development Planning, Engineering Design and Construction Standards for the development of public sewerage works within the Municipality.
APPLICATION:
The specifications herein apply to the development of sewerage works that are to be owned and operated by the Municipality in the Municipality of the County of Annapolis.
DESIGN STANDARD:
Sewerage Works shall be designed in accordance with the Nova Scotia Standards and Guidelines Manual for the Collection, Treatment and Disposal of Sanitary Sewage, Nova Scotia Department of the Environment, except as specifically provided for otherwise, herein.
Service Laterals ...
Provide service laterals to all lots.
Service laterals shall be minimum 100 mm diameter.
Service laterals to be connected to collector sewers only (i.e. shall not be connected to manholes).
Service laterals to be connected to collector sewers using saddles and fittings recommended by the collector sewer pipe manufacturer.
Sewer laterals to be installed at a minimum 2 % gradient.
Sewer laterals to be terminated with gasketted cap and a 100 x 100 mm post, installed from the pipe invert to an elevation of 300 mm above ground elevation.
Collector sewer ex-filtration testing to be carried out after the installation of service laterals.
Pumping Stations ...
All pipe fittings, pumps, access covers, hardware and electrical and instrumentation manufacturers subject to specific written approval of the Municipal Engineer.
CONSTRUCTION STANDARD:
Sewerage Works shall be constructed in accordance with the provisions of the Standard Specification for Municipal Services, as produced jointly by the Nova Scotia Consulting Engineers Association and the Nova Scotia Road Builders Association.
