COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS
September 20, 2016


·         Final Reading was given for amendments to the A4 Cat Bylaw

·         Funds have been reallocated for the Animal Control Vehicle

·         The East End Area LUB Amendment requested by Penman did not pass

·         Annapolis County is supporting Peter MacLellan in his visit to China where he will promote the County

·         Council will ask the Department of the Natural Resources to declare a portion of the Morse Estate (Camp Hillis) as surplus and make          it available to the public for purchase

·         Council provided feedback to proposed changes to Commercial Salvage Facility Standards

·         Council approved a Bridgetown Water Action Plan

·         Grants were approved to the following groups:

         o   Litchfield and Delaps Cove Community Hall Association

         o   Wilmot Community Centre Society

         o   West Dalhousie Community Hall Association

         o   Port Lorne Community Centre Association

         o   West Paradise Community Club

         o   Melvern Square & Area Community Association

·         Two Dangerous & Unsightly Matters will be addressed – one in Lawrencetown and one in Deep Brook

·         A community meeting will be held (date TBA) in Paradise regarding Street Lighting

·         An East End Area LUB Amendment application (MacDonald) will be addressed through an East End Area Advisory Committee         meeting being held on October 4th,  and subsequent Planning Advisory Committee Public Meeting (to be held at 7 p.m. on October 6th at t the Middleton & District Lion’s Hall)

·         Council approved entering into a joint plowing contract for two years for subdivision roads in the east end

·         Final touches were given to the 2016 Annapolis County Strategic Plan

·         Council released funds ($54,000) for year three of five to the Valley Hospice Foundation

·         A Special Council session will be held on November 1st at 7pm to swear-in the 2016-2020 Municipal Council
