Building Official, Level II
The County of Annapolis Community Development Department is currently seeking a Building Official to join their team. Under the supervision of the Acting Manager of Inspection Services, Building Officials are responsible for enforcing compliance with the NS Building Code Act and Regulations, processing building permit applications, carrying out inspections and, and related duties.
Applicants must hold a valid diploma from the Nova Scotia Building Code Training and Certification Board (Level II). Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent and possess a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s license. Fire Inspector certification would be consider an asset. Applicants must have experience in the construction industry and have knowledge of the Nova Scotia Provincial Building Code Act and Regulations, the National Building Code, and the National Plumbing Code. They must also demonstrate diplomacy and sound judgement in assessing building construction and enforcing compliance. Applicants will have good communication and interpersonal skills that can be applied to interaction with the public, property owners, provincial agencies, supervisors and co-workers.
