Employment Opportunity - Maintenance Technician (CUPE Local 4549)
The County of Annapolis Municipal Operations department is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment in the Municipality’s water systems and buildings, wastewater systems and buildings, and municipally-owned buildings or facilities. These tasks are carried out in accordance with Public Works policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and equipment manufacturers’ recommendations. The Maintenance Technician reports to and receives direction from a Lead Hand as assigned. The Maintenance Technician shall be a member of CUPE Local 4549
Candidates must have a Grade 12 or GED equivalent and a valid NS driver’s license (minimum class 5) along with a minimum of five years’ experience in the construction or maintenance of water or wastewater systems. This position requires excellent skills in communication, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organization. Basic computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office are also required. WHMIS, First Aid, Construction Site Traffic Safety and Confined Space Entry certificates are necessary but can be provided by the employer.
